A New Reality – Lockdown Wk2 Day 3

Wednesday

I’ve realised that I need to write this journal and put the day of the week at the top, if only to know what day of the week it is.  And I’m not alone.  I sent a message to a friend yesterday who was convinced that a group call that we had set up was supposed to be last night rather than tonight. Each morning when I wake up, I wonder if it’s the weekend yet……It’s going to be a long few weeks.

Although it’s those people who are being ‘shielded’ that I feel really sorry for.  They aren’t allowed out of their homes for 12 weeks and most aren’t allowed personal contact with anyone. Not even for exercise.  I can’t imagine the effect that it will have on them, especially if they aren’t particularly good with IT.

However, as Brits, if we aren’t complaining about our situation, our alternative default is to use humour.  In our most challenging times, we will look for ways for comedy in our tragedy.  It’s the way we are, it’s the way we’ve been for generations.

So, as we need a little humour right now, I’ve been trawling the internet to see how people have been cheering themselves up by laughing at themselves and then making it available for us all to have a chuckle over.

I hope you enjoy some of these.

One Mum created an “I will survive” parody that went Viral

Comedian Tom Walker creator of the angry journalist Jonathan Pie expresses all our deepest thoughts with his own unique brand of sarcasm and wit. Yes, it’s a bit close to the mark and crosses a difficult line between seriousness and satire, but he’s so clever that it still makes you smile.

Then of course there are the humorous ways to relieve the boredom

And finally

Just be careful because people are going crazy from being in lock down!

Actually I’ve just been talking about this with the microwave and toaster while drinking coffee and all of us agreed that things are getting bad.

I didn’t mention anything to the washing machine as she puts a different spin on everything, and certainly not to the fridge as he is acting cold and distant.

In the end though, the iron calmed me down as she said everything will be fine, no situation is too pressing. The hoover was very unsympathetic… told me to just suck it up, but the fan was more optimistic and hoped it would all soon blow over!

The toilet looked a bit flushed when I asked its opinion, and didn’t say anything but the door knob told me to get a grip.😬

The front door said I was unhinged and so the curtains told me to …

Yes, you guessed it … pull myself together.

(sadly I dont know who to credit for this one)

Stay safe, stay well, stay smiling and chuckle every once in a while.
