Great British County Adventure

It’s time to explore

Since March 2020, with International travel a dim distant memory, there’s never been a better time to explore The British Isles and the diverse landscapes she offers.

After over 2 years of non-stop training for big events, I’ve decided to spend more time exploring by bike in my own time.

And so, in my 55th year on this planet, I’ve decided on a new 365 day challenge. Beginning on my birthday, in June, I’ve decided that over the next year I am going to cycle in EVERY county in England. So that’s 47 counties to ride in the next 12 months.

Some rides might be road events, others might be off-road exploring. Rides may be long or short, and it will simply be a case of what feels right at the time.

Just the idea of this, fills me with joy, and I’m so excited to see more of our great country.

Of course, I won’t be stopping with England, as I intend also to complete Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland….as well as Britain’s Islands over the next 2-3 years.

You can see my progress to date on the map below, which I shall update as I explore the country

I will continue my journey to raise money for Solent Mind, and also for mental health awareness. I also hope to visit all 8 Regional Mind centres once they re-open again

Naturally I’ll be blogging about my adventures in each county, and I hope over time to build up a lovely picture of the best of each area that I get to cycle in.

If you have a mental health story to share with me, and how cycling has really helped you, then please get in touch. I’d love to talk to you, and maybe share your story.
